About

Storytelling is at the heart of my life, where layers of land and language from more than one home have intertwined throughout. Born in Meanjin, Brisbane to hardworking parents, and an automatic subscription to a lifetime of working in their fish and chips shop, I absorbed, mirrored, and upheld my parents’ unyielding migrant work mentality, their ability to adapt to and welcome newness, and their strength in the face of distance. I'm currently a freelance Journalist and Writer. My most recent position was Associate Producer with Southern Pictures on three-part SBS documentary series 'The Swap'.

I created Jabalna magazine in 2018 when I felt a need to build a home for my families' stories and the stories of those navigating identity and belonging, a universal experience that can feel quite lonely at times. Jabalna is for and by those with more than one home. Identities that clash and confuse and create. For those who think and dream in leaping and looping languages. For the ideas and hopes of freedom and the simple and complicated stories that surround us. For art in all its forms. For journeys made and those yet to happen. Jabalna is a welcoming, familiar, loud, complicated, creative, simple, nostalgic and wandering community that continues to come to life as cultures collide.
